CALIFORNIA INFERNAL: Jayne Mansfield and Anton LaVey.

Stockholm: Trapart Publishing, 2016. FIRST LIMITED EDITION of 333 copies only. Crimson binding; A FINE CLOTH COPY in fine dust jacket, and still in the original publisher's shrink wrap. Illustrated, The German paparazzo, Walter Fischer, lived and worked in California in the late 1950s and 1960s. During this period, he documented the glamour, and, yes, the weirdness of the time and place for a multitude of international magazines. Of the great number of photos he is known for, the private images of Church of Satan founder Anton Szandor LaVey and movie star Jayne Mansfield, separately and together, are the most sought after. He was also privy to, and photographed, many of the events inside LaVey's "Black House" in San Francisco. Contains many unpublished images, and presents the time, place, and person in a unique way. The Church of Satan had just been born, and it was being sought out by large numbers. To further convey the ambience of this unusual occurrence, Kenneth Anger, Carl Abrahamsson and Alf Wahlgren have provide additional texts illuminating further the extraordinary photographs within. OUT OF PRINT, and scarce. 144 pages. Small quarto. Item #17197
