THE NATIONAL MAGAZINE.

New-York: Carlton & Phillips, 1852. December Issue. Very Good original excision. Brief article titled, "Alchemy and the Alchemists" which primarily addresses Agrippa, Paracelsus, and Jacob Boehme in the body of this sewn section along with work on Boas, Southey, Samuel Johnson, and other interests. This eclectic monthly was begun in New York in 1852 by the Methodist Church with the aim of presenting the attractions of Harper's without those "morbid appeals to the passions" to be found in fiction. It included departments of religious and literary news and was illustrated by woodcuts. Four double columned pages. Item #16715
