THE BOOKMAN'S BIBLE: Books in English, 1850-1949. Three volumes.
Oakland: Roskie & Wallace Bookstore, 1956-1963. FIRST EDITION. A FINE SET of three small cloth volumes with the signature and card of science fiction writer and bookseller, Nelson Bond, and his card laid in. Nelson used these volumes in the trade to price acquisitions for a number of years. In a letter to JD Holmes, Bond says of these volumes, "Using one of the most ingenious coding methods I have ever seen, in three convenient pocket-sized volumes, the famous proprietor of Oakland's great bookstore has described and evaluated (for that period) thousands of collectible books. Although the current market values have risen, the copious notes describing the points by which editions may be told are still of inestimable value to any collector or dealer." Small octavo. Nelson Bond was honored with the emeritus award by the Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America in 1998. He died in 2006. Item #17953
