THE JAPANESE TOURIST LIBRARY. Complete in Forty Volumes.
Tokyo: Board of Tourist Industry; Japanese Government Railways, 1934-42. In wraps as issued; color plates tipped to front panel and colored frontispieces; all volumes are illustrated throughout with black and white and colored plates; A VERY GOOD OR BETTER SET with some occasional light wear to individual volumes, a few owner names; ten with the original glassine jackets. These small booklets (5" x 7 1/2") are among the best sources for pre-war Japanese cultural information. The dates of issue range from 1934 to 1942, from "Tea Cult of Japan" to "Japanese National Character". The circumstances of 1942 dictate that the latter of the series are among the rarest, including the most scarce "Hand-made Paper of Japan", Number 39. Small octavo. (Item ID: 12J-14323)
