VISIT TO GODENHOLM.

Stockholm: Edda Publishing, 2015. Limited to 360 copies only. A Fine Premium Cloth Volume in Dust Jacket. Ernst Junger's dream-like story "Visit to Godenholm" [1952] takes the reader on a strange journey to an island off an unknown Scandinavian coastline. Visitors to Godenholm are received by the powerful philosopher-magician Schwarzenberg, and suddenly all concepts of time and space are irrelevant. The visitors have no choice but to face their inner processes and individual expectations in a remarkably potent psychic free zone. The author, Ernst Junger (1895-1998), is one of German literature's strangest. Junger was also a keen entomologist and created a literary language permeated by references to strange flora and fauna, as well as to various ancient myths and traditions. This work has been translated from the German by Annabel Moynihan, and a new introduction by Junger scholar, Elliot Neaman, has been added. The beautiful and luminous illustrations are by Swedish artist, Fredrik Soderberg. Octavo. Item #17496
