Portland, 2009. Number thirteen of fifty total prints, and hand written pull sheet tipped dated 9/2009 in the artist's hand. This print from the fifteenth century Necronomicon has been stylishly framed, and set behind archival glass, and is ready for hanging. “Dagon qui opes mare effert” is a faithful reproduction of the original German printing which depicts Dagon as a crowned tyrant slaughtering a whale much smaller than himself. This limited edition print was conceived, carved, and printed by Liv Rainey-Smith, using a host of small sharp gouges, a 9 x 12 inch woodblock, 11 x 14 inch cream Rives BFK paper, oil-based ink, and an etching press.
