London: Atramentous Press, 2017. Limited Edition of 891 signed and hand-numbered copies. A Fine Copy bound in premium dark Emerald cloth with specially designed, foil-pressed, dust jacket, custom end papers, and ribbon marker. This new book from Peter Hamilton-Giles, author of THE AFFLICTED MIRROR, proposes that the archetypal witch, as a conduit for magical Understanding, remains remote to us. Both historical records and the workings of practitioners comprise a 'presenced' or embodied form of understanding, and are inordinately connected to the witch-conception. Hamilton-Giles further suggests that the witch has as much to do with metaphysical absences than physical presences, thus the plenary figuration of what we sense-experience only takes us so far in our comprehension. With the figure of the witch, there is something else dwelling beyond the veil; as a consequence the 'witching-other' appears as the absence of what is considered present. This sense of being absent corresponds with those silences contained within narratives, or the critical lacunae in sensorial understanding. 160 PAGES. oCTAVO. (Item ID: X-WO)
